The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

WTF? I thought this was a joke, because there’s no way Bove is under 45, but… yep. And Miller isn’t even 40?! Boy, somewhere there’s a couple of paintings that are looking super young.

It’s a huge, huge scandal, yet somehow I suspect it’ll largely go ignored, thanks to the Trump effect. People’s notions of how serious a scandal is seems to be entirely based on how often it’s mentioned and how long it stays in the media spotlight. When you have scandals of unprecedented seriousness that appear on a regular schedule, none get the attention they need, each being superseded by another before they have a chance to penetrate into the popular consciousness.

It’s so maddening that the average politician gets destroyed by doing a single act that’s the least of what Trump does on a weekly basis, and the fact that Trump and his administration are orders of magnitude more outrageous, corrupt, lawbreaking, is exactly what protects them.

Yeah, but it made for good TV, and that is what matters!

White supremacy is when you think Donald Trump should get a Nobel Peace Prize instead of Barack Obama and that he hasn’t is due to “affirmative action.”

But he does that so well all on his own. Needs no help at all!

That sort of reporting drives him crazy.

So, I assume all defence lawyers for anyone hauled to court for (for example) breaking an injunction not to protest or anything similar, would be entitled to cite this guy, saying their client was simply following his advice.

Yeah, right.

I’ve read an interesting hot take today. As the Iranian nuclear program was destroyed by Mr. Trump’s big beautiful bombs, the sanctions on the country could be lifted in no time.

And If they kept their program intact, they can make a Nuke without problems because Trump would never admit He was wrong or lying. The Republican could give them new breath to their aspirations.

Which might be part of the explanation as to why their retaliation has been so muted - so far.

If Russia benefits from this in any way (either by making the EU have to resort to buying Russian gas/oil or by Tehran buying more Russian nuke stuff or Russia getting more Iranian drones), then, well, there’s your answer.

“US embassy wants”? “wants”? ([daffy duck voice mode] i would like a… trip to Bermuda)

So as long as umpteenth obvious constitutional protections are being cast aside and those seldom even contested, so much for privacy laws?? @#$!! (“you do realize that this stipulation is aimed at those coming into the US, not the reverse?” …yeah, but it’s just a matter of time)

hope there’s enough room on the “new visa applications” for a substantial subset of the OED, because that’s how many ‘every social media username’ some of us utilize

Social media? What’s that? Is it something the kids do today?

Every social media user name?

How would they know if you complied?
What qualifies as “Social Media?”
What about deleted accounts?
What about people who do not have social media?

So many questions, no good answers.

Hell, I’d like to enshrine the right of self-determination into the US Constitution, eliminate fascism in the world, and bring enlightenment to the people of the world, but I’m not likely to get those either.

I mean, I’m not going to be filing a visa application anytime soon, at least not for the USA, but if I was I’d be tempted to just give them a whole page packed full of random words. “Oh, sorry, I can’t recall which site these go to, but I’m sure you can figure it out, right? Now let’s see … one was on GEnie, I think, another was Yahoo Groups, oh do you count USEnet?”

Our resident lawyers would be able to provide a better analysis, but yeah, I could see that being used not so much as a defense but as more of an argument for an injunction against such actions by the administration and their enablers.
