The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

Goddammit these headlines are pissing me off. There WAS NO CIRCUMVENTION!! SCOTUS’s ruling specifically mentioned class action as the appropriate method to use instead of a nationwide injunction.

Again: Good. I recommend head shots. (In Minecraft, as the kids are saying.)

This will get ugly. Either way, it will get ugly.

If Schumer had stood up this spring- we wouldn’t have the devastation in the current budget.

Him making noise that he might stand up for a tiny piece of the budget after letting Medicaid get crushed does not impress me. Ridiculous performative face saving gesture.

There’s that, too - but it blends together. Trump often seems fundamentally unaware that he’s president, but also has no idea what it means to be president and how that works.

I keep thinking about an incident during his first term, when Fox was speculating about what was going on in the White House, and Trump responded on Twitter in a way that indicated he was learning about this from Fox. As if that was the only way he had to find out what was going on in his own administration.

I’ve been constantly on the fence about them since I first saw the account during Trump1, but others have said that at various points the account was feuding with some other (supposed) right-wing social media account, and they claim the mask slipped a bit.

However, I also think that with these types, there’s not a neat line between parody, self-parody, trolling and grifting, either. This guy is right-wing, but has always been a grifter and has constructed the most extreme persona that he could, with little to no connection to reality (or his own views), in an effort to create a “manosphere” self-help career. In other words, he’s taking American right-wing issues and amplifying them up to parody levels and presenting them ironically, so it’s both parody and part of a grift.

Well, ICE are now publicly claiming that racial profiling is a perfectly valid justification for detaining people. That’s where we are now…

Didn’t she help block Paxton’s impeachment conviction? I’m detecting some regret…

Re: MJ farms getting raided

Don’t underestimate how many MAGAts are going to be more pissed off that the cost of their weed is going up than they were at the price of eggs.

Good, although (based on the details in the recent whistleblower “fuck them” emails) Boyd may also be motivated by a fear of being sanctioned or disbarred.

The FTC (in the good old days) had a mandate to protect consumers. If some gender-affirming care entity in State A provides any information or service to a State B entity, then the FTC, under the aegis of their mandate (however warped their reasoning) could interpret such care as a deceptive act (which consumers must be protected from) or just outright include “gender-affirming care” in whatever laws FTC now have on their books. Such a move could checkmate states’ rights. Yes, I know it’s a stretch getting the FTC involved, but there’s a lot of shit being stretched these days.

It’s not a stretch to get the ftc involved for this administration.

Hopefully the courts won’t stand for that. Or the states

President Trump was asked by local Texas reporter about the government response to the deadly floods:

REPORTER: Several families we’ve heard from are obviously upset because they say that those warnings, those alerts, didn’t go out in time, and they also say that people could have been saved. What do you say to those families?

TRUMP: Well, I think everyone did an incredible job under the circumstances. This was, I guess as Kristi said, a one in 500, once-in-1,000-year event. And I just have admiration for the job that everybody did. There’s this admiration. Only a bad person would ask a question like that, to be honest with you. I don’t know who you are, but only a very evil person would ask a question like that

The White House is posting AI-altered photos of members of Congress made to look like they’re crying. No disclosure it’s fake.

From the old thread:

For a political party & social movement that places so much emphasis on the Ten Commandments* (e.g. putting or requiring it in public places), the entire literally-God-damned M.O. revolves around, & completely depends upon, violating that one commandment in particular.

*Not that Ten Commandments. No, not that one, either. That one.
