Qatar’s $400M jet for Trump is a gold-plated security nightmare

[…]

Assuming Grift Force One would be kitted out to match the current presidential VC-25s,
“It wouldn’t be in the air before 2030 at the earliest, long after he’s left office and probably later than the existing planned replacements,” said [Richard] Aboulafia [managing director of aircraft consultancy AeroDynamic Advisory]. “It makes no sense on any level, except that he wants a free 747 for himself. Nothing else makes any sense.”

[…]

“What’s sort of annoying about the whole thing is I’m not sure what’s wrong with the current Air Force One,” Aboulafia said. “Maybe if they gave it a gold makeover, he’d like it more.”

But vaccine experts are mystified by its focus on a dated technology

Mystifying, eh? I knew before even reading the story that someone linked to Trump will make a lot of money off this.

Memoli was recently named as the principal deputy director of the NIH after serving as Trump’s acting NIH director. Taubenberger was recently named acting director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Taubenberger holds a patent on the technology.

Well, look at that!

When making the “what about Hunter Biden” comparison on CNN last night, one of the Trump simps said oh what the Trump kids are doing is fine because they are building towers and such contributing to society. Such bullshit.

Some actual quotes from that meet-up:

Boldly calling him out, asking how he sleeps at night after the crimes he’s committed, and doing it to his face in front of an audience? Who would have thought…

Never mind, the sleep thing was just praising him as being a workaholic.

The only way I can read that is “If I didn’t like him I’d run away because he’s a cold-blooded murderer, but he’s my kind of murderer, so we’re cool!

I know it’s just a joke from the Onion, but no one made Carter do that. He did it voluntarily to avoid even a potential problem. Although technically, he didn’t sell the farm. He put it in a blind trust. Trump, on the other hand, put his company in a revocable trust. The difference is that the terms of a blind trust are set when the trust is created, and Carter couldn’t have taken the farm out of trust while he was President, even if he had wanted to. A revocable trust can be terminated at any time by the owner.

Carter’s farm also wasn’t exactly making him a ton of money. After he left office, he did sell it because he was a million dollars in debt on it. Which actually illustrates why it’s so important for a President to either divest themselves of businesses like that, or put them in a blind trust. If your business is in debt, and someone offers to bail you out, and you’re the President? Problematic. And Trump’s businesses have declared bankruptcy six times. While I doubt his current business is in debt, it could be. Who would know? It’s not a public corporation and he doesn’t disclose shit.

It’s the administrations approach to the law in general; it depends on who it is being levied against.
