I simply cannot understand this desire to be invaded by a foreign army that Bolsonaro supporters have been harboring.
Every time I read âthank you for your attention to this matterâ it reminds me how just how bad he is mentally. You know he heard that somewhere and now the single remaining braincell is bouncing that off the side of his skull every once in a while like a DVD logo on a screen saver.
What do you mean? American interference in the affairs of South American nations has always gone swimmingly! /s
As @mindysan33 and @KeybillyJefe noted slightly upthread, education is critical - and it can produce many more people who tend not to be arseholes, if done well. It hasnât been done well for a while, in many cases and places. But you have to start with the young and even if it was in place now it would take a generation for the current crop of ill-educated arseholesâ influence to diminish; and meanwhile theyâd be indoctrinating their own young, whose educators would be in the firing line when the kids brought home âunchristian, woke, liberal, socialistâ ideas.
Sigh. (And Grrrrrr!!)
The now common pattern: bad_person promises to praise trump and thus gets a pardon, bad_person then released to the public can continue being bad, or even badder still. This process appeals to trump supporters one presumes? even the bible thumpers? sure why not⌠@#$!
(warning TMZ link with photos of trump and sean john combs and melania)
You donât get to use HIS name in vain without a license fee royalty payments.
Sooner or later, the scoffers and scofflaws will know that capitalism comes for us all.
Probably.
Weâre soaking in it.
In 1964 they sent a task force to support the coup d´Êtat, but it was of no need, as the communist danger was greatly exaggerated and most of the population received the news of the governmentâs overthrow with apathy.
Many people today firmly believe that we live in a dictatorship and a little number of them are eager for American intervention here, but I believe that Mr. Trump will not spend money on an invasion.
Itâs weird, since Iâm very used to people from that part of the world being fully aware of how destructive US interventionism has been across the region. But even in cases where we did and most people opposed it, there was always someone who welcomed support from their neighbor to the northâŚ
And youâre right that Trump might not spend money, but heâd likely back private contractors doing so. There is history of the US relying on such schemes to carry out their ends. My late step father was a mercenary for a while in the 80s, and went to Grenada for example. Eric Prince is always eager to support right wingers like BolsonaroâŚ
The leopard-eating-faces party voter syndrome is very strong here. Many people think theyâll somehow be spared because theyâre good people, against the bad guys etc. No one considers that at the very least, they could be caught in the crossfire.
Mr. Eduardo Bolsonaro has already declared that it doesnât matter if Brazil becomes a devastated land, because he will feel vindicated.
I donât think this is necessary. If the countryâs economic situation worsens, good old-fashioned media manipulation and other means of influencing public opinion will suffice. The irony is that the American and Brazilian governments could reach an agreement and Mr. Bolsonaro would be thrown under the bus.
Something our countries share!
Ugh, thatâs depressing.
It is a global trend.
I know itâs not a broad set of opinions, but I hear people talking about this situation and how it was Lula and his wife who created all this mess by poking Mr. Trumpâs ego. No one reads the news and sees that several countries more aligned with the United States still faced heavy tariffs and a lot of humiliation.
Itâs crazy that people canât see the reality of an authoritarian and how they operate.
