A friend of mine who has been editing some of the very best coverage of DOGE’s breathtaking vandalism of the federal government says that all of this “amounts to a historical event on par with the Russian Revolution.” If so, it is a disappointing revolution from the perspective of the resistance. This revolution is taking place inside of computer servers inside of locked rooms inside of locked buildings. It presents no face to the outside world. Despite all of the sporadic rallies and protests of the past week, the streets of DC lack activity, and the people of DC seem chastened, shell shocked, unable to find a base from which to launch a counterattack. This is a revolution by the rich against the poor carried out wholly by bureaucratic intermediaries on each side. The billionaires’ chosen bureaucrats are wiping out the bureaucrats whose job it is to maintain the beleaguered social safety net for the poor. The screws are being loosened on America’s wheels. It may take some time before the wheels fall off, but when they do, remember that the vandalism happened here and now.
Sometimes it’s the more tangential stuff which stab at us. As a devoted hiker around the Pacific Northwest in my youth, i would frequently find myself on segments of the Pacific Coast Trail. This wonderful trail is 2,653 mi (4,270 km) long and stretches from Mexico to Canada. We would delight in being so sisters/brothers with Canada (“Longest open border”) that we could hike into Canada or them into the states to enjoy the trail and a resort with hot tubs. Now, thanks to trump that wonderful opportunity is shuttered. @#$!!!

Authorities have closed the border where the Pacific Crest Trail enters Canada.

EDMONDS, Wash. — The Pacific Crest Trail runs 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada and through Washington’s Cascade mountains, but folks looking to make the trek right now may not get to their final destination.
Jim and Diana Hansen have been hiking together since they met more that 30 years ago. Their latest adventure is continuing to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, this time from Washington into Canada.
“There are no borders on the trail,” Jim said. “People that we’re meeting are from all over the world.”
Except now, the border where hikers cross from the U.S. into Canada is closed.
Canadian authorities announced the closure at the end of January, stating it “aligns with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which does not allow travelers to enter the U.S. from Canada on the trail.”
The move comes as President Donald Trump threatens tariffs against Canada, causing a border battle.
There were zero fatal passenger jet crashes under Secretary Pete.
Amazing, surreal and terrifying to think that one ketamine-fueled fuckhead now appears able to trigger an enormous bank run just by draining some bank accounts here and there.

It’s unclear why Trump chooses to salute during the national anthem as he has never served in the armed forces, famously facing allegations that he cited bone spurs to get out of the draft during the Vietnam War.
I did notice that the broadcaster appeared to have a cheer lined up during the anthem for when the camera showed trump saluting.
Stadium almosst silent, sudden cheer at the exact moment he was shown, back to silent stadium.
I heard they boo’d him (I’m not near a tv yet)
Maybe they did, but for sure the broadcaster played a remarkably well-timed cheer.
I just read an article that said he was on the field before kickoff and he got cheers and jeers.
Apparently he spoke with victims and their families before the game on the field.
