The goddamn Trump Administration

And their tiny hands fit inside the machinery so well, it’s just good business!

We have policies here in the library about using your personal devices for work related matters. There are some cases where it’s allowed – 2FA for your account verification, for example, but not required. We very specifically have rules spelled out in great detail about not using your personal device to log into our patron database to create or alter patron records. Patron privacy is very important to us, although I’ll admit it falls a little short of war plans. If we can somehow manage to be this vigilant about protecting relatively low level data, I believe it’s not unreasonable to expect much better vigilance at that level!

Your personal device should not even be in the same room as documents of classified or higher security! I recall seeing some high ranking officers get detained trying to leave the Cheyenne Mountain complex because they had cassette tapes in their bags. (They were released after a few minutes, the tapes were not.) I’d wonder why this isn’t being treated with a similar level of seriousness, but I already know the answer.

Same here. We can use personal devices for 2FA, but cannot use them to access Epic (our EMR system.) I find it hard to believe that there are higher security standards for pediatricians than for SecDefs.

Back at work they would get you use your phone and get a small reimbursement or use their phone.

Always used their phone. You can and will be subpoenaed in government or just get a Right to Know request.

In addition to groceries, stories about gas price increases are bringing out GOP pols/talking heads attempting to gaslight voters by claiming anything negative is really normal…

…however, this Easter Egg story from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert points out what is not normal:

On February 27, it was announced that balloon launches would be suspended entirely at Kotzebue, Alaska, due to staffing shortages. In early March, Albany, N.Y., and Gray, Maine, announced periodic disruptions in launches. Since March 7, it appears that Gray has not missed any balloon launches through Saturday. Albany, however, has missed 14 of them, all during the morning launch cycle (12z).
The kicker came on Thursday afternoon when it was announced that all balloon launches would be suspended in Omaha, Neb., and Rapid City, S.D., due to staffing shortages. Additionally, the balloon launches in Aberdeen, S.D.; Grand Junction, Colo.; Green Bay, Wis.; Gaylord, Mich.; North Platte, Neb.; and Riverton, Wyo., would be reduced to once a day from twice a day.

Just degrading our science infrastructre a bit more. Pay no attention.

She’s right, but I hate this “What people are missing…” Twitter-speak hot take culture.

This was discussed in every article I have read on the topic. Nobody is missing it.

I agree with you, but I have to admit I missed that.

Honestly she is literally the first person I saw bring up this point.

I dunno… Maybe internet people could just let a woman be right without nitpicking her tone or something?

We are already in this mess because too many American men couldn’t handle the thought of a woman laughing.

That’s fair, but it is even discussed in Goldberg’s original article on the conversation:

“Under the records laws applicable to the White House and federal agencies, all government employees are prohibited from using electronic-messaging applications such as Signal for official business, unless those messages are promptly forwarded or copied to an official government account,” Jason R. Baron, a professor at the University of Maryland and the former director of litigation at the National Archives and Records Administration, told Harris.

I like your solution.

Oh, come on. This isn’t about gender. Men are even likelier to do this and I hate that as well. It’s about the Twitter culture where everyone is searching for a hot take that will make them seem like an expert that saw what everyone missed.

I’m sorry, but women get hit with this much worse on twitter, any other place online, and IRL. It can be aimed at men, but it’s MUCH more likely to be aimed at women.

ASK ME HOW I and EVERY OTHER WOMEN HERE know this to be true.
