It doesn’t get much more 70s than that!
Too true!
Ooh Ooh Ooh!
He has until August to make up his mind. By that time there might be barbed wire encircling the country.
Alternative title: watch a snowflake melt down in Greenland.
Pretty bad stuff.
I wonder if the attitudes of the CPB officers tend to vary much depending on the location, and particularly if they’re stationed at one of the 15 “Preclearance” locations that are outside of the U.S.
This last weekend I returned to the US from Europe and went through US customs at the Preclearance location in Toronto when changing planes, which meant that I didn’t have to go through customs again at LAX. The US has similar Preclearance sites in Ireland, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and a few other countries. I’m curious to know if the CPB officers stationed at these locations are required to be US citizens or not. Even if they are, it seems like someone who has decided to work and live in another country might tend to be less hostile to foreigners, right? So I wonder if folks entering the US via one of these Preclearance sites would be less likely to encounter this level of hostility.
Probably not practical for an Australian to fly into the the U.S. by way of Ireland or Canada though.
What a clown show
FOXTROT DELTA TANGO
Well, at least one good thing would come out of it then
A Department of Homeland Security media representative replied that the department “cannot answer questions on something we cannot verify the veracity of”.
“Just like I cannot confirm the existence of big foot.”
It’s not acceptable that a government agency spokesperson talks to a journalist from a foreign paper of record like that
(It’s not acceptable that they talk like that to anyone, but it’s especially shocking when it’s one of the fifth estate’s established players)
At the very least they couldn’t be thrown into a deportation camp for weeks if they were rejected at the border. If for some reason I was forced by circumstances to fly to the US in the near future, I would make sure to do it through Shannon for that exact reason. You’re still possibly being rejected, but at least it happens on EU soil, where people have rights regardless of their citizenship.
Excellent point. And probably also worth noting that a traveler might not necessarily be afforded those same rights if they went through the Preclearance location in Abu Dhabi…
In a just world she would be promoted for undermining Vance.
Good job! All those tariffs are not actually being collected, right now. Masterful gambit, for sure.
of today’s hearing. Admin continues to be dickheads
Judge wants daily briefing on what’s being done. Gov lawyer just says “don’t know”.
You know, this actually does not surprise me one bit. Incompetence is the only thing this admin is any good at at all. But I guess in that area, they really are phenomenally good.
