He really, truly believes that reality will bend itself to his fucking EO’s. He is a fucking lunatic toddler manchild who thinks he is the master of the universe. Gaaaahhhh!!!
There’s a video with that post. It doesn’t even seem like he knows what he’s signing. Somebody is just telling him what it is as he’s signing it.
I think that’s how he signs all the EOs:
(the whole Late Night episode from last night was excellent, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was a guest)
ETA: content warning! Stephen Miller appears late in the clip.
Are Trump supporters still buying this? Anyone got any right-wing family members? Are they still falling for this crap, or are the zero-effort lies and the enormous body count looming over the horizon doing anything to change their minds? I’m assuming nothing will be enough to break them out of it- plenty of them happily let COVID off them, after all- but is there perhaps some point where even they find Trump’s lunacy too dangerous and insulting to their intelligence? The very few right-wingers I have any contact with have all gone dead silent, almost as if they know there’s absolutely no defense for what Trump’s doing now and are hiding away so they don’t have to be apologists.
What. The. Actual. Fucking. Hell is this shit…
That should advantage the Hispanic immigrant community at face value. But I am certain means those Quiverfull people.
Ones I know have been pretty quiet too, except for some gleeful cackling and handrubbing over all them there illegals finally getting rounded up and deported.
He’s going after our kocal public schools specifically.
It’s not true, but why should that matter?
Which is reflected over here in the fact that the only Labour govts elected in the UK since Thatcher have been only slightly different shades of Tory-lite.
(Re AOC’s statement quoted further above - surely she meant ‘clamouring’ not ‘clambering’.)
I might be wrong, but as I understand it, UK Labour has only been slowing turning right into becoming a Tory-lite party, and Thatcher was sufficiently hated by enough people that it wasn’t a winning strategy to emulate her policies (until recently - and Labour still aren’t going to win any points by explicitly associating themselves with her). Whereas in the US, the Dems made the switch immediately with Clinton, and are now at the point where they’re bringing up Reagan’s name and pretending that everyone loved him.
AIUI, they didn’t overtly start talking about the non-existence of society or calling the concept of mutual aid Communism, New Labour just internalised all the economic theories which were being made concrete under Thatcher, and implemented them all faithfully.
Thatcher did it gleefully while claiming that the coal miners were lazy scum who deserved to starve, Blair did it while “being realistic”, claiming that it was a fact of life that the old ways were uneconomic and prosperity could only be achieved by accepting all the assumptions of the neoliberal model.
Thatcher worked to eliminate council housing by selling it all off, Blair vowed to fix the already growing housing crisis by… selling off all the council housing. While increasing police patrols and surveillance in council estates.
Which is to say, yes, Labour went out of its way, and with good reason, to flee any association with Thatcher, while at the same time clearly and obviously implementing the economic model of Thatcher. This was obvious at the time to anyone who was paying attention.
Even more damning is RFK Jr. is considered as trusted on health issues as Dr. Oz. While Dr. Oz is an objectively awful person, AT LEAST HE’S A FUCKING ACTUAL DOCTOR.
Ah yes, the typical “Trump says something ridiculous, gets push back, then says, ‘maybe, maybe not, well, we’ll see’ and it’s never brought up again” weave.
[Kaitlin Collins’ questions]
I may be critical of Collins as an on-air personality, but her questions here were spot on. I’m sure Trump will start soon start calling her “nasty” and trying to get her banned from the premises.
“And we had a very good policy. And then Biden came in and he changed it and then when I came in two days, three days ago, I signed a new order bringing it to the highest level of intelligence. Okay?”
I really hate this premise that because there were diverse hiring practices in place that Trump is able to twist this into making it seem like this meant that they were hiring unqualified people to work in ATC as a result. This is of course not surprising – Trump has long shown his ableism and hate for those he deems of “lesser” intelligence than him, but c’mon. Working ATC is a hard and stressful job, and I refuse to believe they were hiring people simply to fill seats with warm bodies as that would be objectively worse.
As an aside, it’s been 8 hours since I last checked this Topic. I knew I was in for some rage when I saw this:
This was amazing. Thank you.
There’s some elements of George Carlin and Bill Hicks, in that there are important messages and information embedded in the comedy; it’s not just about the punchlines.
