Not really. There are plenty of people with real, honest-to-god, common sense. Political types just have a knack for using it to justify their policies and/or decisions. Because any further analysis reveals them to be stupid.

Hearing CDC just advised any of their authors that they have contacted journals to have their names removed as authors on any scientific material that promote gender ideology.
I’m puzzled. How can the CDC tell journals to do this? Is it a bit unclearly written, and they’re actually advising the authors to contact the journals to remove their names?

Lots of people have common sense, but if you point to it to justify something it means “I don’t have any better explanation”. In any kind of professional situation that says something has gone wrong.
