Well with Hegseth, the issue is that some emails from his mother surfaced last week, that she had written several years ago when Hegseth was going through a pretty ugly divorce, and she had basically called him a predator and abuser of women, and that she was ashamed of him. So having his mom talk to these Senators is damage control.
