I keep thinking about this video.
At first, I found it comforting, which is its intention. But now, I’m mad, because he is ignoring that the real issue is the erosion of the protections offered by the 3 separate branches. With the Republicans so in lock step behind Trump and in control of both the House and the Senate and the Supreme Court corrupt and so many Federal courts packed with picks by the Federalist Society, the system isn’t going to protect us.

I think it’s a big issue with the Vlog Brothers. They try hard to be the good guys, and I like what they do. It’s nice to have a space on the Internet that’s positive. Yet still, they don’t seem to understand what it’s like to be a woman, or person of color, or a non-dominant religion.
As a Jewish woman, it’s been really an eye-opener to me that even family members and people who should be thinking of me are so unaware of how my life is affected by my identities. I guess it’s no surprise that they are like this, too; however, since they have put themselves out there as public figures in the way they do, I’d like to see them try harder.

The trouble is that the ‘tech world’ has no idea what civilisation actually is. The very first tenet of civilisation, without which there IS no civilisation, is community (which, obviously, is communism /s) whereas all the techbros are obsessed with individualism. Mostly themselves as the individuals in question.

I have come to believe that civilization is the yin to the great man’s yang.
It’s those who build in the wake of that destruction and survive it by luck or virtue who shape the world. The rest of us die for the vanity of “great men.”
