The Reckoning
I cannot let this day slip by
without shouting into the void of my disappointment.
The charges are gone, swept like dust under a gilded rug,
and yet the truth remains, burning:
He was guilty.
You know it.
I know it.
The weight of it presses against my chest,
how a man so stained could hold the reins again.
He ran for power to shield himself,
a crown to escape the scales of justice.
He will pardon himself,
stand smug on the green of manicured lies,
a golf swing on our dime,
while we watch,
while we ache.
Do you remember?
He told them to march.
I saw it.
I was there, and the echoes of that day
still ricochet in my mind.
I will not forget.
I will not forgive.
Not the man who lit the match,
nor the hands that handed him the flame.
You who cast your vote,
for cheaper gas, for eggs, for promises spun from deceit,
or worse—
you, who saw the ugliness and shrugged.
He is a bigot, and it didn’t stop you.
He is cruel, and you let it slide.
You looked away, silent, complicit.
And in that silence, the cracks widened.
The grave error was yours,
but I do not have the breath left
to plead with you to see.
I will watch as it unfolds,
as the curtain lifts on this tragedy we have built,
brick by brick, with our denial.
And when the moment arrives—
when the mask slips and the monster stands revealed—
it will be too late.
Do you see the bodies yet?
The ones already fallen,
the ones to come?
They are part of the price,
written in the fine print of your choices.
There is no blanket thick enough to hide under now,
no silence deep enough to escape the echo of what is coming.
None of us will walk away unscathed.
Not even you.

Good (?) poem.
I was just thinking similar thoughts about his likely pardon of the imprisoned insurrectionists. What a gross dismissal that would be of a long, hard, diligent judicial process, which involved thousands of people making sure that justice gets meted out properly. And of course, it’s just one example of how this disgusting man and his toadies and cronies have been shifting on and will continue to shit on this country and most of its people.
I have been wondering if someone on the White House staff was going to make sure to cover the furniture near Vance’s office in plastic.
kinda surprising that the sycophants haven’t yet installed fake submission inputs on trump’s phone. (y’know: “Let that one through, let me edit that one, send that one to Bannon”, spits Stephen Miller)
Trump Makes Dumbfounding Claim That Democrats are Fighting to ‘Get Rid of the Popular Vote’
Published Dec. 9 2024 11:59AM EST
HUH?
The president-elect lost the popular vote in two of the three elections he contested.
President-elect Donald Trump launched a baffling claim Monday that “Democrats are fighting hard to get rid of the Popular Vote in future Elections.” In a post on his Truth Social network, he added: “They want all future Presidential Elections to be based exclusively on the Electoral College!” In fact, the popular vote has in recent decades heavily favored Democrats and, this year, Trump became the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 years. Democratic candidates have won the popular vote in five of the seven presidential elections in the 21st Century, losing two of those elections to Republicans who got fewer votes on a national level. Not only is there no Democratic effort to shore up the Electoral College, many prominent Democrats—including the party’s 2016 nominee for president Hillary Clinton, who won more votes than Trump but lost the Electoral College—have argued in favor of a popular vote for president.
(i would love to see the end of the @#$! electoral college! -sigh-)
Once again, this policy (which, despite what he might think, he can’t change on day 1 because it’s in a constitutional amendment) would have much larger implications outside of the immigrant community and the children of immigrants…
A 2011 factsheet by the American Immigration Council says eliminating birthright citizenship will affect everyone. All American parents would have to go through an arduous and expensive process of proving their children’s citizenship.
“Our birth certificates are proof of our citizenship. If birthright citizenship were eliminated, US citizens could no longer use their birth certificates as proof of citizenship,” the factsheet says.
Research by Washington, DC-based nonpartisan think tank Migration Policy Institute and Pennsylvania State University projected that ending birthright citizenship for US children with two unauthorised immigrant parents would increase the existing “unauthorised population” by 4.7 million people by 2050. The findings of this research were published in 2010.
Since Trump is saying that the U.S. is the only country with birthright citizenship.

You can send a letter to dipshits, but you can’t make them read…
The list will be efficiently forwarded to DOGE for purposes of eliminating research grants…
What would a proof of citizenship even look like? Ending birthright citizenship isn’t actually something on its own, it would have to be replaced by some other standard. “Both parents are citizens” would work if you were only applying it going forward, but since Trump talks about deporting already existing people that’s clearly not what is intended. So what is? Has anyone even brought it up with the Republicans?
Oh, I’m sure they’ll figure out something whi… I mean right fast…
but yeah, it’s so blatantly unconstitutional that even this current SCOTUS would have to dismiss it out of hand… although… this fuckin’ court man…
They’ll figure out some fucking dumb shit to justify it… or they’ll just finally go full white nationalist.
Yep. They’ll figure something out white away.
The MAGA movement has only one goal — to make life difficult for people they don’t like.
I hope they do it and leave the military, which they love sooo much, in chaos.
