The goddamn Trump Administration

First his fans were mad that CA has stricter vehicle/environmental standards, next they wanted to boycott travel to other states that had any policies considered to be “woke,” and now Felon47/Musk made cuts to the NPS that are affecting their vacation plans:

Musk on Monday even floated the idea of live-streaming a walkthrough of Fort Knox, responding to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ coverage of his comments by suggesting he’d like to film inside the vaults.

Jesus, this is so stupid. Why is everything these fascists do so stupid? Was fascism always this stupid?

Hey, man, you’re the historian. I stick to the “you have to be stupid to be fascist” despite the evidence.

“Courts have no authority over the executive branch!”

“They cannot challenge an entire program based on charges of fraud and waste,” said Jillian Blanchard, a vice president of the nonprofit Lawyers for Good Government. “If they had actual concerns about fraud or waste, they would need to follow clear procedures and protocols in the regulations, going grant by grant to address this, but that’s not what’s happening here. They are challenging entire programs whole cloth without evidence.

Facts? We don’t need no stinking facts!

People are stupid. But…

They get sick of being shamed for it.

Often people resent having to work or think at all simply because it is taxing while leisure time is scant, and life is mean. 24 hours split 3 ways etc.

People are stupid and angry and mean and they like entertainment and easy “wins.” More than anything they hate being asked to be anything better than that. They like answers that make sense and don’t like questions that confuse them about why that makes sense or whether it should.

I think you are right about this, and that it is about being overwhelmed and lazy and looking for answers that make them feel good and require no thought on their part. I just don’t accept that this is acceptable. Living in a democracy is not easy. Living in a dictatorship is easy, you just mindlessly obey and hope the eye of Sauron doesn’t fix on you. So how do we get around that? Because I don’t have any answers.

Or procedures; “we don’t need no stinkin’ procedures!”

I think I posted the video of this child. He has no idea what he is saying, for sure. He is just repeating what he is hearing around him. It’s super creepy because he is just being a silly kid, but he is saying these awful things that no child thinks about.

y’know…makes me see EM as a rich Charlie Manson…except I think Charlie was a teeny bit more self-aware.

Oh yeah, I know how that is. Until we replaced the float in the tank, we’d often have to jiggle the handle a few times to get it to flush properly. trump should try that.

I’m not sure most people ever really think about the lyrics or the meaning behind them, just like with the pledge of allegiance. That’s one of the purposes for compulsory recitation and singing in schools – you get kids so used to just intoning along without opportunity to think about what they’re saying. Embedding firmware in the brain OS takes a little longer, but it is a tried and true process. Even better, once you have enough people doing it, they’ll force it on others without ever understanding why.

Gee, ya think? Why is there even a question mark. CALL OUT THE CORRUPTION — it’s right out in the open.

“They’re patterns that we haven’t really seen in the past actions of the Department of Justice,” he said. “And none of the patterns inspire a lot of confidence that the department is being evenhanded in its approach to cases.”

Gee whiz, I don’t like these patterns, one bit, no sireee!

Would you say they are causing you “great concern?” Or even “greatly distressing?” Are you tempted to send a strongly worded email? GAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Yeah, I do not know what it will take to wake these guys up. Maybe public executions? Videos of the concentration camps? Their own relatives being rounded up? Probably not. Too enmeshed in the public politeness cult. I have no answers, but the resistance is here. Just not getting any press.

Pro-Trump ‘Shazam’ star to Musk: People who voted for Trump are losing their jobs

More idiots getting what they voted for.

More than that, though, because these are legacy systems connected to a bunch of old hardware - their modern coding knowledge may not even be relevant; it certainly wouldn’t give them the knowledge they need about the intricacies of the FAA air traffic systems to enact any real improvements. I’m assuming all that Doge work is being done by 19 YOs who would normally be working as interns, because they know shit about shit, but I doubt there’s much of anyone at SpaceX with the relevant expertise, even if they are competent engineers. Seems like best case scenario, with competent, self-aware SpaceX engineers, is that they waste some time and money (and disrupt air traffic control some more) to realize they shouldn’t be messing with these systems. I fear that Musk being Musk, he’ll just replace them with people who aren’t competent or self-aware, or assign a bunch of actual interns to work on it from the start. (Because how hard could it be? It’s not rocket science.)

Oh no, it’s so much worse than that. The book is being banned because it is “potentially related to gender ideology or discriminatory equity ideology topics,” apparently because, uh, the main character is a girl. In the same way that “DEI” means “contains non-(cis het white male),” "potentially related to gender ideology or discriminatory equity ideology topics” means “contains non-males.” Trump is “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism” by protecting them from seeing stories that involve girls or women.

Yeah, it’s the same appeal as conspiracy theories - simple answers to complex issues (that involve clearly defined “villains” to oppose). One can just ignore the complexity (and reality) of the issue, and one doesn’t even have to come up with any solutions because “getting rid of” the right people will magically resolve the issue.

Education. It’s the reason why that gets attacked so hard. There are ways to make it easy to keep certain basic ideas in mind…

My generation grew up with Aesop’s Fables/Fractured Fairy Tales, Sesame Street, and Schoolhouse Rock. I keep saying we need those brought back or create modern versions that appeal to the masses. Otherwise, more kids will be exposed to tales like the ones described below - with no foundation to recognize and reject the bs:
