Isn’t Macron a rich dude prior to becoming the President of France? Also, he speaks french, so he fancy. Tromp loves fancy.
Love it!
Needs more cowbell…
There’s also something delightfully flexy about Macron speaking English in these conversations rather than using a translator. He runs circles around Donnie even in a second language.
They can & do. Will vouch.
(Back to work…)
Yeah, I should’ve put q marks around that.
He was. He originally did run for President, but the race quickly coalesced around JQA and Jackson, so he dropped out and ran for VP, which he won.
I didn’t think of that!
I don’t think it would be intended as a coup, although of course that’s likely where it would end. The oath you take in the military is very explicitly not to the US President, but to the constitution. This is actively emphasized during training and specifically addressed, or at least it was when I was in basic training around 40 years ago.
“All enemies, foreign and domestic.”
Even if this doesn’t end with something like a military coup, I really hope the current members of the armed forces remember that part about “lawful orders.”
George Clinton does have a lifetime appointment to Parliament, though. Though I guess he only recently stepped down.
Agreed, though I couldn’t think what the terminology would be for what is essentially a legally and morally obligated scenario where the military opposes the POTUS. If there’s a word for that I don’t know it.
I remember someone taking Clinton/Gore stickers, & rearranging the letters to spell “George Clinton” (I guess it took 2 stickers for the added g & e)
Normally when I mention the VP George Clinton, I make sure to add “(not that one)”. I forgot this time.
It came up on my youtube anyway!
I feel like Harris had good momentum going until the vice presidents’ debate, where Walz failed to make Vance look like the creep that he is.
Oh yay!
