The goddamn Trump Administration

They can always give it away for Christmas.

The facility has eight sprawling pavilions and can hold up to 40,000 inmates. Each cell can fit 65 to 70 prisoners.
Bukele’s justice minister has said that those held at CECOT would never return to their communities.

Outsourcing your concentration camps does not make them not concentration camps, goddamn it! What it does is put the horror outside the US where it will receive no coverage, and these human beings will be effectively disappeared. Worth keeping this in mind as the DoJ is arguing that Il Douche can deport anyone he likes with no justification or court oversight, on his say-so alone. Folks, if you were wondering, this is what a dictatorship looks like. Next step will be to ship out US citizens who have displeased his hineyness.

call it … the trump seesaw effect? as trump goes about sowing autocracy and hatred anyone who is seen as resisting or (even better) opposing trump gains public approval. oh if only politicians in the states, in general, (looking at you congressional Democrats), would accept that as a political opportunity
-sigh-

Is Trump helping other world leaders gain popularity back home?

Trudeau, Zelenskyy, Sheinbaum and other leaders have seen a boost in approval ratings amid negotiations with Trump.

Handout picture released by Mexico's Presidency press office showing Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum (L) talking with Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 18, 2024.

Mexico’s Sheinbaum holds out for a deal to avert US tariffs

From tariffs to the Ukraine war, United States President Donald Trump has picked diplomatic squabbles with leaders worldwide since his January 20 inauguration.

However, while Trump has framed his combative approach as putting “America first”, many of these leaders have benefitted politically, too. …

Not much more to say about this anymore, he believes he can do anything he wants.

He thinks it’s all a popularity contest, can’t someone, anyone, get it through his thick skull?

This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President - He didn’t WIN the popular VOTE (by a lot!), he didn’t WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn’t WIN 2,750 to 525 Counties, HE DIDN’T WIN ANYTHING! I WON FOR MANY REASONS, IN AN OVERWHELMING MANDATE, BUT FIGHTING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION MAY HAVE BEEN THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR THIS HISTORIC VICTORY. I’m just doing what the VOTERS wanted me to do. This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!! WE DON’T WANT VICIOUS, VIOLENT, AND DEMENTED CRIMINALS, MANY OF THEM DERANGED MURDERERS, IN OUR COUNTRY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

Yes, this horror is being exported, for now. But didn’t someone recently receive federal funds for building private prisons in the US?

I suspect Tramp and Co. see the mega-prison in El Salvador as a model. But thanks to his mega-ego, he’ll insist that a far bigger one be built. And as Foucault taught, the penal system creates and finds “criminals” to feed itself.

Seems likely to me that a goal is to scoop up many thousands of people, imprison them in the US without due process, put them to work, perhaps even in agricultural settings, and profit from their labor. Slavery by another name.

Firstly, those apprehended through the program and later confirmed to be undocumented would be charged with a state felony triggering a lifelong prison sentence.

Entering the prison workforce, for life. Modern day slavery.

It’s also a pretty small workforce that he’s trying to save. According to a 2022 report by the Federal Reserve there are only about 40,000 total coal miners currently employed across the entire country. An absolutely miniscule number compared to most other industries. The clothing store chain Forever 21 (which is likely to declare bankruptcy again) had more than that many employees at its peak, but nobody is suggesting that we sacrifice the planet to save that company.

Plus saving those jobs sounds pretty damn hypocritical with all the ones they’re destroying in the admin.

True, but WV and WY are hard core MAGAt states, and coal mining is very much central to their identity. Grew up in WV, and even in families that were not mining were affected by it. This is a way to 1) blame the “radical left” for what is a hard economic reality, and 2) take credit for trying to “fix” it, which, of course, will be foiled by “the Deep State” and “Soros backed terrorists” and deepen their hold on these folks. I wish I were kidding, but I’ve seen it IRL.

Libertarians. Check.

Rock’n’roll!

But, seriously, one major impediment: infrastructure. Roads. Water. Sewage. Waste disposal.

The vast majority of Federal land is in sparsely populated areas where the issue is affordability, not lack of housing stock or access to land.
