The goddamn Trump Administration

But initial market indications early Wednesday evening were that many investors had expected Trump’s tariffs to be far less expansive.

WTF? It’s been almost a decade now, you dumb motherfuckers, and you still think Trump doesn’t mean it when he says he’s going to do something insane, and every fucking goddamn time, you act shocked when he actually does it! Goddammit these assholes piss me off so much!

Maybe he’s still mad about the mutiny on the Bounty?

I was going to point out that the Bounty island was Pitcairn, not Norfolk, but then thought “Yeah, Norfolk is probably the island he’d punish if he was mad about the Bounty”

“Bounty Island is a very bad, very nasty place. People don’t talk about this…a lot of people don’t know…but there was a mutiny there. Mutiny, betrayal like nobody has ever seen before. But nobody has ever been treated as badly there as I have.”

Another thing to note, Trump is obsessed with and confused by VAT. He considers VAT a tariff.

Fear that a trade war might happen, so I guess keeping to the usual definition of “war” as not when American oligarchs attack people but when they have temerity to fight back. :unamused:

The descendants were relocated from Pitcairn to Norfolk in 1856, and we know how long he holds a grudge.

And yet, for some reason, this vote doesn’t have the weight of law. It’s just the Senate saying “Yo, guys, we really probably shouldn’t be doing this, k?” The 4 Republicans, by the way, were Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitch McConnell. Welcome to the resistance? Nah, fuck those assholes.

I’m just wondering when Trump will learn about punitive expeditions.

Like hell it isn’t. War profiteers have existed as long as war has.

ETA: @jerwin Did not mean to sound snotty, honest. I’m mad at war, never you.

It’s just as dumb as the Greater Idaho movement. And looking at that map, why doesn’t Illinois get (relatively liberal) Indianapolis and Evanston? I mean, if you’re going to go for it, go all the way.

Which is particularly stupid. FDA submission review staff aren’t paid for by taxes - they are paid for by the fees from manufacturers who submit new products for review. This was a deal made between FDA and industry over a decade ago to improve review times at the agency. It’s bad for business, it’s bad for patients, and it doesn’t save taxpayers a single cent. It’s just destructive.

Don’t forget that he’s the first to be impeached twice! (So far…)

Evanston?

Evanston, IL is north of Chicago, so it’s still in their version of Illinois. Evanston, IN is a tiny place in southern Indiana near Evansville, in an area known to be very much not liberal at all.

Sorry. Evansville.
