Who is this?

Looks to me like an evil character in Human Centipede.

Or maybe a Dr. Bronner impersonator.

@sqlrob , @Millie_Fink Thank you both. Now it makes sense.

I assumed it might be some member of Trump’s cabinet.

Funny given how Trump ran on lowering prices and creating an economic boom. Now his minions are all saying things like, “it’s going to hurt but you don’t need that new phone or car, and not being able to afford groceries is the sacrifice you’ll need to make in service to your country”.

Funnier how those who voted for him won’t care. I guarantee every Republican angrily shouting at town hall meetings right now would vote Trump in for a third term, and will snitch on anyone critical of him once hating Trump officially becomes a thoughtcrime. I very much hope anyone still in contact with MAGA family or former friends is severing all ties right now, for their own survival.

“ Stock futures slid Friday after China imposed new tariffs on U.S. goods in retaliation to the levies announced by the White House earlier this week.

Futures tied to the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 679 points, or 1.7%. S&P 500 futures lost 1.6%, and Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 1.8%.

China’s commerce ministry said the country will impose a 34% levy on all U.S. products. This matches the tariff on Chinese goods coming into the U.S. unveiled by President Donald Trump on Wednesday.

Friday’s action follows the worst day since 2020 for each of the three major indexes. The Dow and S&P 500 dropped roughly 4% and 4.8%, respectively, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite plunged nearly 6%.”

Brazil does not rule out appealing to WTO against US tariffs

Sort of surprised no other countries have mentioned WTO a yet. But good luck with that. WTO is notoriously bureaucratic and takes forever to do anything at all. And Trump would just laugh at it and withdraw US involvement.

Education Dept. warns schools: Eliminate DEI programs or lose funding

Is that the Education Dept they have abolished or are going to abolish? Riiiiight.

The Australian Prime Minister is talking about exactly this.

That’s about what I expect too. Serious question, not rhetorical: would withdrawing from the WTO change anything for the US in its current state?

Old Iraqi (maybe) proverb:

A drowning man is not afraid of the rain.

In a before time i would have found this horrifying. I find myself responding “meh” to this news now. I think I’m broken.
