In this case, I think it’s just Trump demonstrating his “knowledge” of the Holocaust - i.e. some bits he remembers from some movie or tv show he once watched. (Probably, and I’m not kidding, Hogan’s Heroes.) Mixed, in his rotten, scrambled-egg brain, with misremembered other bits of fiction and maybe even a smattering of simple facts (i.e. there was some girl called Anne Frank that some Germans helped).
The former agency leader compared the current FDA restructuring to retaining only doctors at a hospital, while letting go of all nurses and phlebotomists.
In the end, it doesn’t matter whether Trump was meaning it to be a loyalty test: as soon as he said it in front of Netanyahu, it became one.
Any reaction, the slightest demurral, would be a sign that he wasn’t truly, completely loyal to Trump.
Bibi was forced to chose, in that instant, between Trump and Jewry. And he chose.
And what’s worse, I’m not seeing any indication in the Israeli press about that. Maybe they’re all still in shock. But I’m not seeing it in Ha’aretz, not in the Jerusalem Post, I don’t know, maybe one of the Hebrew language ones mentioned it.
Maybe it’s a test for them, too.
Let me just say, that is the absolute fucking scariest analogy i have ever seen. Any doctor will tell you, we can work at the pace our nurses allow, and only with their permission and active cooperation. Take away our nurses and we instantly become overeducated and overpaid housekeeping staff. And not very good ones, at that.
I think it’s intended to be - and probably accurate.
I wonder when Trump will rename the Statue of Liberty to The Statue of America?
They will also need to, at that time, replace “The New Colossus” with the lyrics to “God Bless the USA.”
Elbows up!
ETA:
“I’m telling you, these countries are calling us up, kissing my ass,” Trump bragged at the National Republican Congressional Committee Dinner in Washington, D.C.
Sounds like an open invitation to start kicking his ass.
