But then what’s wrong with Alaska that they can’t simply put their data centers there on the land that’s already been stolen?
Well, where’s the macho flex for Tramp in that? As you said, it’s already stolen.
/s?
That reminds me when my son decided to skip school once and forge a sick letter. On the way home from his one day suspension he asked how the school could tell I didn’t write the letter. I told him that it wasn’t written the way an adult would write.
Wanna bet Xi put listening devices in them and spends his days laughing at Trumpy?

I’m sure that ChatGPT can solve that problem.
She needs to jail the government lawyer for contempt, then summon their boss and jail them for contempt until Albrego Garcia is returned. And if they don’t comply keep jailing officials until they get all the way to Noem. Maybe they can do a photo op of her in a jumpsuit to go with the ones she took at the El Salvadoran gulag.
That’s the only way to get them to comply.
Pretty much everywhere has most of the “rare earth minerals” they’re talking about.
What Greenland and the US lack that China has are 1) existing facilities to extract them from the ore, and 2) absolutely zero fucks to give regarding environmental or human safety, or quality of life, or wages, or rights, in the process.
America has rare earth mines and processing facilities, it’s just that they were shut down because it’s cheaper to buy them from China because see above.
Remember when presidents and their staff put real thought into what would go into the room that represented the inner sanctum of their executive? When thought was put into the significance and symbolism of every detail?
There is a lot of symbolism in putting lots of what looks like genuine gold leaf on cheap plastic imported from China as well, but it’s not intentional.
Seriously, if a previous administration had for some reason wanted tatty neo-roccocco volutes on the wall, they would have found an independent stucco artist who maybe represented a minority community, or a group struck by a recent natural disaster or the state of an allied senator and it would have been a big deal for the artist and their community, and the artist would have done research and based it on a historical precedent with a meaning and there would have been a small unveiling ceremony and the next administration would have taken them down but put them into storage as an option for further administrations. It all used to mean something. Now it’s a façade
Seriously, I can’t let this thought go, so I’m continuing in a new comment.
The historicity of the office, the weight each of your decisions, even on décor, takes on in the light of everything that came before and everyone that will come after are what makes it appealing. The dignity of the office is what makes the indignities of the campaign trail worth it. I don’t understand how you would just throw that away, how they don’t want any of that except as a facsimile.
The man built a casino he called the Taj Mahal.
In New Jersey.
The weight of history hasn’t ever meant much to him.
The thread needs a brief rest stop. So here is one:
Either:
They have no dignity and no self-respect. Internally they all hate themselves. The ‘dignity of office’ or even of ‘…the office’ is an alien concept to them - because dignity is an alien concept. (Hint: ‘dignity’ ≠ ‘face’.)
Or:
They are all facade. All superfdiciality. Zero depth. All very shallow people. All face.
(Insert ‘why not both’ gif.)
No question, it’s definitely BOTH in this case.
