My old man was big in the steel workers’ union here, and a history buff about associated topics like the Pittsburgh labor battles. For a brief period in the 90s, I was a PI and my boss happened to be retired from the Pinkertons. When my dad found out where my boss had worked, there was very nearly a reenactment of the Battle of Homestead, just a few years after the centennial of that event.

The term I would use to describe 
is crass.
Exactly. The bully talks a lot about respect, but doesn’t know how it is really earned. He and his minions want people to cower and kiss up to them, so then they’ll feel powerful. That’s what they believe is being respected. They don’t realize it’s just out of fear and generates loathing on the part of the people being forced to do so.

Musk has done his best to only have sons. When he talks about his progeny populating Mars, he presumably means along with nameless women to be sourced from Earth, who are eager to act as wombs for his master race and otherwise don’t count.
I know, that’s not how genetics works. But the whole Mars thing is completely unrealistic fantasy in the first place, so why not add an unrealistic sexist ego trip on top of it?

Let’s please not accept the eugenicist premise that kids are bred to be smart or dumb. I don’t believe intelligence is purely matrilineal or patrilineal, on the grounds that it’s something complex we don’t even have a good measurement for so how would we know. But most of what I would consider intelligent behavior comes from caring to learn about the world around you. Elon Musk does not and all his children have the burden of a spectacularly awful father, and a mother who was taken in by him. People can rise above that though if they try.
