I mean we all know the actual reason. Not that he doesn’t like what it symbolizes or where it’s from or who would have liked it, because he’s completely ignorant of all those things. He knows it’s not a gaudy trinket of the sort that he associates with having money, and therefore it’s taking up space for the ostentatious crap that he thinks looks impressive.
Could have just spray painted it gold!
pretty sure someone did.
like he would ever know the difference?
From Wikipedia:
The plant was removed from the Oval Office during the start of Donald Trump’s second presidency in 2025 and replaced with a collection of gold objects.
Removing something living and thriving to replace it with something tacky and meaningless is so on brand.
It took me a few minutes to figure out if this was Kristi Noem or Nancy Mace. What is up with this Mar-a-Lago look? I don’t really care that much. They can look however they want, it’s just so bizarre looking.
Also, fuck Vince Vaughn, apparently.
Vince Vaughn is supposed to be a “libertarian”, which in theory is an ideology completely at odds with fascism, but it’s never a surprise when it turns out that’s not the part people care about.
Also, the 2 people on either side of “Smiley” (in the background) look rather… cadaverous.
Trump probably thought it would bring much needed elegance and refinement to the Oval Office… that just before one of his aides nervously asked him if he would like to have a couple of windows opened.
… what distinguishes Mar-a-Lago face from what you and I might contemplate getting done on an especially self-flagellating day is the aggressive, overt nature with which MAGA-ites seem to pursue it. “Over the top, overdone, ridiculous,” is how one New York plastic surgeon I spoke with described it.
(Political cartoonists are getting dangerously close to being accused of ditching caricature stylizations.)
So, are the chefs and servers club employees? Maybe his faves like
or
will be on the menu. There are so many choices for seasoning dishes like that (
). I’m hoping they’ll make it a very memorable meal.
But the Trump administration has been arguing that VATs are somehow tariffs, so while apparently tariffs aren’t taxes, taxes are tariffs?
Coolcooltotallynormal.
It’s kind of like how all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are the increasingly fast-paced dissolution of our society under the pressure of looting by narcissistic oligarchs. Or something.
