That’s particularly stupid even for Trump. How, exactly, does he think that would work? No, sorry, I don’t know why he would suddenly start thinking about anything.
I lived in Chicago for 13 years before moving to Wisconsin. While I no longer live in Illinois, I do work there and I’m very much a fan of Tammy Duckworth!
From Trump: “I got stuck watching Marble Mouth Meyers the other night …”
Did he lose the remote? Forget how to change the channel? Someone strapped him into a chair, propped open his eyes ala A Clockwork Orange and force him? For someone that’s about to turn the USA into his own personal toilet getting “stuck” watching anything seems like a strange thing to be out of his control.
Yeah… someone probably sent him a link to one of Meyer’s bits, and he got bigly mad at it… But of course, he wants to live in a world where we all worship him uncritically and he’s going to use whatever power he has to at least make TV like that. We’ll see if NBC rushes to comply or not.
I had something bad pop into my head yesterday. Here at the library, from my partner’s office you can see the flag pole out front, currently flying at half-mast, of course. Completely unbidden, the thought came to me “I wonder how long before on the MAGA suck-ups suggests replacing the USA flag with a Trump flag? I wonder if any of them would even offer a token resistance on that?”
So next week? Before the end of the month by the latest?
If he has information about who set the fires maybe he should call the tip line.
The actual irony… A home owner consents to pay property taxes that will go to the fire department. The funds are diverted to illegal immigrants because LA is a Sanctuary City. An illegal immigrant comes and sets your house on fire and the fire department doesn’t have the resources to put it out. The home owner paid for their own destruction. On top of that, the government is so inept that the insurance companies won’t insure houses here anymore, so the home owner is left with nothing.
Insane notion pay-it-no-mind: “But I must vote however trump tells me or one of his billionaires will primary me!”, whimpers republican senator Spineless-jr. “If you vote the way trump tells you, the local DNC has enough funds to primary you and run against whomever wins”, states Democratic strategist in response. (that is, force them to imagine winning a primary isn’t just a matter of paying for opposition ads; perhaps including not voting for rapists/lunatics to hold high government offices) -sigh-
So I understand Trump, once he receives the keys to country, has the authority to issue his own presidential order overriding that issued by President Biden in this, but how exactly does Mike Johnson think he can do so? You have a few people ahead of you before you’re president, Mikey, and that’s only after the inauguration. Sit down and shut up.
Once again he misses an opportunity to gain respect.
He could open his inaugural speech with a moment of silence honoring Carter but nope.
It mirrors actions taken in recent days by some Republican governors who have announced that flags in their states would be raised on Inauguration Day to mark Trump’s second term
Good to know-- (and to save others having to click through)
In a decisive move to Trump-proof California, Gov. Gavin Newsom and state Democrats have secured a groundbreaking $50 million agreement to bolster the state’s legal defenses. This massive investment is designed to shield state and local governments from President-elect Donald Trump’s potentially harmful policies, with a focus on immigration and deportation.
Newsom’s proposal designates $25 million for the California DOJ to fight Trump’s policies in court. State Senate leaders also propose that $25 million be used to help immigrants defend themselves against deportation, detention, and wage theft by funding grants for legal nonprofits and immigration support centers.
This agreement is the first of its kind, and it’s also the latest effort over the past three months that Democrats have taken in an attempt to buck Trump’s second term in office.
Thinking that honoring Carter would reflect well on him would require some idea that respect isn’t zero sum, and all signs are that Trump doesn’t understand anything isn’t.
