The results of the first round of IRA negotiations, announced in August, saw the list prices of 10 high-cost drugs get slashed by as much as 79 percent. Collectively, the negotiated prices are estimated to save seniors $1.5 billion in out-of-pocket costs in 2026, when the prices go into effect. The savings will likely be well received, given that KFF polling has found that over a quarter of Americans struggle to afford prescription medications, and 31 percent say they haven’t taken medicines as prescribed due to costs.
Nevertheless, drugmakers have made no secret that they loathe negotiating lower prices. The pharmaceutical industry has filed several lawsuits, claiming the negotiations are unconstitutional. So far, the legal fights have been unsuccessful.

For those of us old enough to remember, there were a ton of people who desperately tried to distance themselves from W, who while Trump was running were dragged out of their shadows to say that Trump was even worse that W.
I’m honestly not completely worried about Trump’s run. I don’t think he’s going to make it long, Vance couldn’t convince a drinking bird to dunk, and most of the GOP is angry at itself. Most likely they’ll lose power in 2 years and we’ll spend those next 2 years frozen (plus fighting the bird flu pandemic or whatever other thing Trump leaves us unprepared for). I’m much more worried about the shrewd GOP member who moves in using all the roads that Trump has laid down. A smart politician could be truly evil in a way that could only be truly captured by stroking their goatee.

I have multiple family members, several of whom voted for him, that are squarely in his and even the disorganized mob’s sights. I dread what may come for them and will try to help. But I’m trying to not sink into despair just yet.

Mostly as a waking dream i was recently musing over how long a deceased trump could be hidden by people like stephen miller and the inner-most den of thieves? Sort’ve like a horror-show version of a “Weekend at Bernie’s”; how long could they hide that the public hasn’t seen trump alive? …so they could have ‘presidential power’ without a meddling Vance/Thiel takeover. (“quick! get xAI to make us an AI model of trump bloviating! ok… artificial non-intelligent”)

While not the highest priority of reasons, this sort of possibility is why I want trump to drop dead in a very obvious, very undignified, and very public manner. My favorite time and location would be at 11:58 EST on 20-Jan-25 just around the time he starts towards the podium for his swearing in ceremony.
I would get great joy if he could see the presidency just millimeters out of reach, only to have it snatched away as a massive intracerebral hemorrhage causes him to fall over and die, preferably projectile defecating all over the first three rows of MAGA Republican sycophants in the process.
Yeah, I know Vance and others will trample the body before it hits the floor in an effort to be the next in line, but I’m not convinced any of them can pull it off. They might manage to get in the driver’s seat, but I suspect the cult members won’t get behind them except to plant the knife firmly.
