We know that Trump used his autocratic aura to get obey-in-advance CEOs from virtually all of Big Tech, the Detroit auto world, and elsewhere to fork over an unprecedented $250 million. And we can guess that it maybe cost $1 million, roughly, to rent and open the Capital One Arena for two days of events. That only leaves $249 million or so unaccounted for. We’ll get a few answers, but not all the ones we want, in a few months when the inaugural committee files a mandated report.
Report??? Haa, ha ha hhhhaaa…sorry couldn’t hold it in…
I guess she thinks they just open the doors and they just walk out without any processing.
She’s big on stirring the pot but she never does anything to help the people she thinks need help.
If she’s so concerned she could just go there and get to the bottom of it, she knows it’s just processing but that doesn’t help her to get people angry.
The responses under her tweet think the democrats are in control of the jail.
I’m already over all of this. He comes to town, creates chaos and then everyone blames the people trying to figure out the chaos.
This post was arguably meant as a joke, but it may point to a way in which that EO can be considered nonsensical and therefore unenforceable, at least in part. Perhaps overly optimistic, but might be good grounds for a legal delaying action.
It’s a neat thought but since it would be zero effort to simply amend the EO or supersede it with a new one with corrected text, I doubt it’ll move the needle any.
it is that “at conception” part that is troublesome.
i see that as a gateway to “fetal personhood” and the RWNJ position that life begins at conception.
there is more to that than the cursory, superficial reading of the words. i believe it is a Trojan Horse for more nefarious reductions of reproductive rights.
Of course, Trump has likely never read a word of these EOs nor does he likely understand what they say. I saw some of the late-night signings on CNN last night, and the guy handing him the binders explained each one in the most vague terms possible saying things like, “this acknowledges the ongoing invasion at the southern border” to which Trump dutifully signed the document without even looking at it.
These EOs were probably prepared months in advance, and by some very skilled lawyers. IANAL, but if there’s one thing I do know about the kind of lawyers who write these kind of documents is that every single word used is intentional, and there are no mistakes.
Whether or not any of this stuff is legal or enforcable is of course up to the courts and honestly I don’t think that was ever the point. It’s throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. As far as the actual wording goes, I have no doubt every letter was carefully scrutinized by some very smart (and very awful) people.
