What, a ban on all travel? Dang, I was just about to go the grocery store.
I’m sorry you’re an asshole.
Just heard her interviewed on NPR. Her comment on an apology: “I will not be doing that.” God, i wish we had a thousand faith leaders like that.
Were she to apologize for that, and huzzah for her for not doing so!, she would be apologizing for promoting the precise foundation of a (true) Christian philosophy: mercy, compassion, forgiveness. In my limited reckoning (as a ill reformed druid), you apologize for those and you’re packing it (Christianity) in. May she serve as a convincing witness for all who would preach the gospel.
The Good Reverend should say she’ll discuss it with him if he comes to confession.
I’m still subscribed to the law school subreddit. People there are not good. Government agencies hire a lot of law school students for summer internships, because nearly every government agency has a legal department. Students rely on these internships, and the interview process happens in the fall, with offers being extended late in the fall semester. It’s the same with internships for private law firms. All of the students who had offers from government agencies are now getting letters rescinding them because of a mandatory hiring freeze. This could potentially impact these students’ careers. They are panicking.
You are fucking kidding me. No. I absolutely refuse to believe that walking turd ball enjoys Leonard Cohen. I can’t imagine him having the concentration needed to listen to an entire song, unless it’s about himself, let alone something with some actual depth. Was this a song someone suggested as a reply when asked about favorite songs? You may as well be trying to tell me trump reads René Descartes in the original French!
Paywalled before I could read much of the article. Does it discuss Adams making a deal for a pardon in exchange for not criticizing TFG?
First part of article:
Amid sharp debate over President Trump’s executive orders on immigration, gender identity and other issues, Mayor Adams revealed Tuesday he recently made a deal to not publicly criticize Trump after being assured he’ll have a direct line to him.
Adams said they made that agreement while he met privately with Trump at his namesake golf club in Florida this past Friday.
The deal covers controversial topics such as Trump’s executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship, his pardon of convicted Jan. 6 rioters and other actions that could have serious impacts on New York City.
“We’re not going to agree on everything, but those areas that we disagree, I’m going to personally share with Trump, and he has given me an opportunity to communicate with him directly on issues we disagree, and I respect that,” Adams said during his weekly press conference at City Hall before adding:
“I don’t want to be part of what feeds the anxiety of going back and forth.”
ETA:
Asked at Tuesday’s press conference about the criticism, Adams claimed his attendance at Trump’s inauguration is consistent with Dr. King’s “dream.”
“My life is the life that Dr. King was talking about when he says he had a dream,” he said. “I’m living that dream, and my desire to be in Washington to make sure I continue to move forward on that dream.”
Definitely seeking a pardon.
I would say that I hope he enjoyed his one or two meals outside of prison before returning, but that would be lying.
Didn’t Sam Slagheap proclaim he was going to go out & buy guns? IANAL, but even with the pardon, he’s still a convicted felon, no?
Unless he has a different conviction- he has a clean slate- as if it never happened.
A commutation leaves the conviction on record, and just cuts short the sentence. A pardon completely wipes out the conviction. Legally, it never happened.
Arrested or being held hostage by the weaponized department of justice?
