Of course it’s just inspired by the whitewashed, ahistorical version of those temples and palaces. In reality those ancient structures as well as all the statues would have been painted in a variety of bright colors, but if anyone tried doing that to Federal buildings the fascists would hate it.

yup. and in states like florida (a leading recipient of FEMA funds, along with texass and louisiana) governors like desantis or abbott would then be able to declare that the largely ethnic areas of miami or houston can not be aided because there simply is no money (for ethnic majority communities - that’s the unsaid/unwritten part).
as always with these fascholes: the cruelty is the point.

I don’t know about Florida but I don’t even know if that could work in like that in Texas. There’s not really any place that fits the bill. Like maybe Houston but that’s not majority ethnic in a way that can be isolated in terms of disaster relief and downtown Houston makes the state a lot of money and has a lot of rich people in it but is also the worst impacted.
Tornados and hurricanes come through all the time. This will mainly hurt rural people but they haven’t realized it yet or they’ve been so neglected they don’t even care and vote against their interest maybe?
It’s rural people who depend on the most aid in these disasters and the US government comes in often because the rest of the US actually kind of depends on the cities functioning so the smaller populations benefit passively. The state isn’t going to be able to neglect the ports or transport routes or major centers of business but they can damned sure turn a blind eye to a few thousand homeowners unable to submit an insurance claim on their burned down property.
People have really really lost their damned minds.

you are absolutely correct that it is the largely rural areas - full of his supporters - that will be affected most.
i didn’t mean that the entire cities of Houston or Miami would be denied aid, just those areas of the largest populations of not white citizens. areas like Hialeh, Little Haiti or the big neighborhoods in Houston of Black, Hispanic and Asian communities, that would be singled out by trumpist fascist governors like Abbot and DeSantis.

The Senate vote for Pete Hegseth (alcoholic, embezzler, rapist, misogynist) to lead the entire @#$ pentagon is just about to begin. There is an MSNBC reporter (damned if i can figure out his name - sorry) who is expressing the notion that the vote may not be a done deal. -sigh- well, here’s hoping.
Telling addendum: Senator Blumenthal just stated that if this Senate vote were a secret ballot “There’s no way that Pete Hegseth would achieve confirmation”. …just have to muse over that belief and the total lack of interest in protecting the United States over just staying in office of nearly every @#$ republican Senator. -sigh-
