The Nazification of the World

Offering good odds on “Even if he gets the retraction/apology, he’ll find it insufficient, and refuse the aid anyway.”

I’m going to have a wild leap of optimism and hope Macron issues the most acceptable and perfect apology ever.

Sounds like something was discussed in a back room. If it means we all still get to breathe, that’s cool. I’ll even applaud Bolsonaro for saving the planet. If ego-stroking is what it takes to get these jackasses to move in the direction of good, so be it.

The Conservative Party of Canada is seeing that sweet sweet Bolsanaro money and wanting to do the same (and forcibly take what little land FN folk have left)

Canada’s conservatives are literal nazis

Isn’t that an oxymoron?

Yes. Also very Canadian.

(Once upon a time, the right-wing Progressive party joined with the Conservatives, and the result was… that.)

Even that sounds contradictory.

Yeah, we do seem to have this split-and-merge cycle with our right-wing parties, don’t we?

I’m hoping the current federal split (CPC vs. PPC) ends up drawing all of the racists into the PPC, and then the PPC quietly imploding rather than merging back in, resulting in a net shift to the centre for the CPC.

Sadly, that isn’t the usual pattern; usually they merge back together, and the resulting party is further to the right than the pre-split party was.

There’s currently a factional split in the West Australian Labor Party.

The right wing faction have, of course, labelled themselves as “progressives”. Their major issues appear to be blocking any restriction on coal mining and protecting sexually abusive men.

This reminds me of José Ferrer’s character in Ship of Fools.
He describes, with a smile, the pro-Nazi articles he publishes as being “very modern.”

Why does politics need to make sense to an “objective” outside observer? Ideological clarity doesn’t reflect the world at it is.

White supremacists showed up to disrupt Calgary’s Pride March, got instantly owned, and are now extremely mad online

Mockery works. Use whatever you can to humiliate and silence white supremacists - if we can stop them from gaining critical mass, we stop them from killing.

PostMedia, which controls 70% of Canadian newspapers, decided to go full nazi for some reason. When called on it, they tried to memory hole their actions - but not before printing it and circulating it.

What was the editorial about?

It was…

Mark Hecht: Ethnic diversity harms a country’s social trust, economic well-being, argues professor
OPINION: Canada should say goodbye to diversity, tolerance and inclusion to rebuild trust in one another and start accepting a new norm for immigration policy — compatibility, cohesion and social trust.

It’s now

Apology to our readers
The Vancouver Sun is committed to promoting and celebrating diversity, tolerance and inclusion.

Yes, I just saw the apology, but no mention if what they were apologizing for.

That editorial was some blatant intolerance.
