Just a note to wish all penguin lovers a Merry Xmas and note that UK TV viewers will be seeing the much trailed (it was on the BBC News at Ten last night, FFS!) return of Feathers McGraw tomorrow evening on BBC1.

Well, the local zoo
(English page won’t onebox for some reason or other but works:)

has Aptenodytes forsteri in its logo, and for its 125th anniversary they had a fundraiser/marketing thing called “Pinguinale”. Sponsors could buy “blank” fibreglass statues of penguins and then paint or modify them otherwise to their hearts content. There was everything from simply adding a company logo to evoking other works of art to chrome plating. I think 200 statues were made, and most of them can still be found all over town.
I’ll post some pictures every now and then.

The scuba-equipped penguin is super cute (even if redundant ). Must be a scuba business sponsor?

that looks really cool! i love the style of the artwork. reminds me of the sheer scale of Jean Giraud (aka Möebius).
