That entire article is so guilty of anthropomorphizing and assuming complex thoughts without any evidence. Oooh, “he thinks it’s a parent or friend!” What bizarre assumptions. Collin clearly believes the excavator is an amusement park ride and that he is quite tall enough to safely enjoy it, and then to have a churro after, thank you very much.

Ryot is a japanese-brazilian cartoonist. He used to be a dekasegi, a native of Latin America who migrated to Japan. He makes a series of cartoons called zangyou (roughly overtime) about his experiences as a foreigner worker in Japan.
In this cartoon He talks about the sounds he used to hear in Japan, in particular the annoying Donki store theme song.
It really is bizarre (to me) that stores in Japan play their theme song on a non-stop loop.
