Aw, peas.
It hits me in the feels that that has been your experience, i get it and iām not surprised but it still sucks. Iām thankful that the few creators and makers i watch have been allies, but i did have to put Binging With Babish on ice and is something iāve spoken about a few times at TOS.
But this is a good opportunity to ask around. What creators and makers do you watch that you know to be allies or LBQT themselves?
Should this get bumped out into a separate topic, since there are creators/makers who are LGBTQ+ or supporters who arenāt trans?
I can recommend a few folks off the top of my head, at least from YouTube. I know I follow some on Twitch but Iād have to review my Follow list.
Philosophy Tubeās a given-- Abbyās so amazing. Aranock is a wonderful video essayist who puts out long-form analysis of movies and TV shows, often from a trans perspective; sheās also worked with Jessie Gender (I really need to catch up on her work, I like what Iāve seen so far.) Aranock also streams on Twitch from time to time. Sometimes she plays videogames (reading each characterās words in different voices, like Sonic the Hedgehog or Agent Smith from the Matrix. Itās hilarious!) Lately itās been drawing streams, but a big favorite of mine are the reading streams. She read Poe and Jeckyl and Hyde last Halloween, and she is soooo good! Jammidodger is a trans guy whoās incredibly sweet and wholesome and has talked openly about his journey (and his partner Shaaba is just as lovely. I think the kids would call them both cinnnamon rollsā¦ do they still say that?? )
Mike Figueredo does progressive news coverage on The Humanist Report channel, and also sometimes streams on Twitch. Heās openly gay. If you like role-playing games, especially from the World of Darkness, Iād recommend Lore By Night. I think I remember him saying heās bi, but Iām not 100% sure. Heās done a lot of deep lore dives into the Vampire, Werewolf and Wraith games, usually narrated in-character. Heās also produced supplements of his own, like a guide to solo play he covers in a playlist called āPlaying With Diceself.ā I fall asleep listening to him sometimes, which isnāt meant as an insult-- he has a lovely voice and it can help me relax and drift off. [Content warning: he can be irreverent and swears freely, especially when he gets mad at the game publisher putting out substandard material.]
Thereās probably more YouTube folks I donāt recall right now, and Twitch should probably be a whole new post of its own, sometime later. Iād want to make sure to mention channels that are still actively postingā¦ and Iāll be honest, some would probably require a warning label or two. They all swear, and one or two are snarky as hell and donāt suffer fools gladly (if at all) so they might not be to everyoneās taste.

Ooh, that reminds me of B. Dylan Hollis. He bakes from old recipe books, and heās so funny. Fun fact: my dad once made a chocolate sauerkraut cake, years before I found the channel. It really is surprisingly good, you donāt taste the sauerkraut at all. It gives an almost coconut-like texture and the cake is really moist.
Oh yeah, heās good. I havenāt subscribed, for some reason, so I missed him when making my list.
You caught some people I forgot too. Itās all good!
Canāt say enough good things about Mama Doctor Jones. Jammidodger is wonderful. And Tasting History with Max Miller is also really good.
Yeah, Mama Doctor Jones is amazing. Her channel even got banned by some ultra right wing school board in Alaska.
Disclaimer: Speaking as someone who is relatively cishetā¦
Others have already mentioned most of the names that leapt to my mind (Philosophy Tube, Shaun, Hbomberguy, ContraPoints, etc.), but here are a few more. Others might find them a bit Marmite, but I mostly appreciate their content, especially if you are looking for long-form stuff. Both are very BreadTube but have very different approaches:
I know far more about books and graphic novels than I do about TV or YouTube (TicTok, etc.), but I have to second Jammidodger and Shaaba. I donāt know the cinnamon roll description, but they are both so adorable and just all around wonderful people.
Gaming:
The one trans youtuber that i know of but donāt watch is Jim Sterling. Not necessarily an endorsement from me but i did want to make mention of them for discussion purposes.
Food & Drinks:
I watch Morgan Eckroth for coffee content. Looking online i see that they are Bi and gender-wise they say they donāt think about it much or place a lot of weight on it, so iāll say probably androgynous? Either way their content is well thought out, they have a great presence, and sunny disposition i quite like.
Tasting History with Max Miller. Fabulously gay, intelligent and very passionate story teller. And i love food and history so this is the perfect intersection of nerd shit for me.
Art:
I very much love Drawfee. Itās a group of 4 artists, with occasional guests. Several of them will constantly make LGBQT references so iām quite sure some are bi or pan. Either way i consider the channel itself as ally, and they have done fundraising streams where they drive a big rig in a driving simulator for Trans rights and causes. I watch them at night and itās usually what i fall asleep to.
Tech & Making:
Tested i quite enjoy and iām sure this channel is known amongst the folks here. While Adam and the other folks running the ship might be cishet I do view the channel as inclusive, i donāt think Adam would stand for discrimination.
Honorable mention: The Try Guys. Theyāve had a great track record with LGBQT related videos, the one below being my favorite but there are some from Eugene that are very emotional and heartfelt.
*There are more channels i watch, most are likely allies but would like to keep my list manageable here
Iāve seen some (but not a lot of) Jim Sterling, who can be delightfully snarky about the videogame industry; I like it. I didnāt know that about Morgan, but I stumbled across some of their coffee videos and theyāre very good, even for an occasional coffee-drinker like me. And Iāll definitely check out Drawfee! I know Iāve heard the name but havenāt taken the plunge yet. I love art and artist channels so thatās a great recommendation.
I watch her videos occasionally:
This show is also good:
Drawfeeās format is them drawing (usually) in real time, cracking jokes and bantering. Thereās lots of running jokes and references but honestly just find a video theme that is interesting to you and i think youāll like it. I can always make suggestions for particular episodes but will leave that up to you

@techdif Tom Scott, Matt Gray, Gary Brannan and Chris Joel do BBC style panel games.
@lateralcast another Tom Scott panel game
@DeviantOllam - Infosec, lock picking, theres some gun stuff too if that is a problem.
@JessieGender1
@SteveShives
@TechnologyConnections
@transportevolved - Electric cars and trans rights. Some discussion about Tesla and itās owner, but I know Kate and Nikki from trans youth support groups from 20 years ago.
I have a few more that I am 99% certain about them being safe, but there is still that 1% of uncertainty.
Yeah, thereās a few I didnāt include for the same reason. I like Dr. Mike, for example, but occasionally, he can be a little both sidesy. Heās still like the anti-Dr. Oz, but heās got some blind spots.
I also follow a lot of music YouTubers, but I honestly have no idea whether any of them are allies or even LGBTQ themselves. They almost entirely only talk about music. Which is fine. But I also wouldnāt be shocked if I found out some were assholes.
A few I havenāt seen listed here yet, excluding several that are now inactive:
@conure - political commentary
@HeyRowanEllis - pop culture video essays
@EvasiveOne - Makes queer people react to media (mostly older) about their type of queerness, itās pretty entertaining
@aliceinwonder1and - terminally online trans girl degeneracy (the good kind)
@STRANGEONS (aka Strange Aeons) - Internet culture history and commentary
Andrew Huang is a YT musician i love, i know heās non-binary, married to a woman and has a kid but def part of the LGBQT community. Does collabs with a lot of independent musicians i enjoy (bonus rec for Rob Scallon too, a frequent collaborator of Andrew)
