Sadly, some churches didn’t survive the split. My parents had been members of Floral Heights United Methodist Church in my hometown since they first moved there in 1962. I grew up in that church. I played D&D in the church basement with the pastor’s son back in the early 1980s. They were forced to close the doors last year because half the people had left because the church was “too woke”. The church was founded in 1919. My parents were heart broken.
well, that’s very sad… I hope they found another church that served their needs.
They did, but they’re still not happy about it. They’re going to First United Methodist, which was always the church all the fancy people went to. And that’s not who my parents are.
I rarely shave my legs anymore. I have asymmetric body hair, though. There’s almost none of the left half of my bod, so unless you get real close, my left leg looks like it’s been shaved. The right leg has hair, but not like a super huge amount. If I’m gonna wear shorts or a dress, I’ll shave. Otherwise . . . nope.
Today is the Transgender Day of Visibility. Since it’s also an office workday for me I was pondering what I wanted to do. Get a subtle or obvious trans pride flag shirt? Actually come out as nonbinary to coworkers and ask for they/them pronouns? (Probably not, I don’t predict much positive outcome from that unfortunately.)
I was going to settle for wearing a pink shirt (from Peau de Loop, so the buttons are on the left side like women’s shirts but the cut is more squarish like men’s) over a blue undershirt. And then I spilled peanut butter on it :grumble:
So I’m going even more subtle today I guess.
(Random bonus pin that was included along with an order from Strike Gently, but who else could it be if not Blåhaj?)
There’s a trans day of visibility event at City Hall this afternoon with a trans pride flag raising. I’ll be going there.
I’m going with… overt. Because we need to make it clear that, while we are a small minority of people, there is something about being visible, and if we are all visible at the same time, there is solidarity.
Friend of Dax?
And she provided music for The Goon Show. That’s primarily how I know her.
As someone who served several terms on the Mazzoni board I find this disappointing and angering.
They just won’t let us have anything anymore, will they?
I just finished watching it. It’s great.
Did you watch it on VHS?
Still have not gotten around to it…
I rented and streamed it. I am considering a VHS copy—though that depends on whether or not there’s still an old VHS player at my parents.
