I kind of wonder if they were familiar with Benjamin Lay? They were born a few years prior to his death (they were born in 1752, and Lay died in 1759), but certainly, Lay would have left a mark on the Quaker community in Philly…
anyway, very interesting! I had not heard of this person before.
I have heard of the Universal Public Friend; in fact I have a pin with their visage on it from a kickstarter Nerdy Keppie did a couple years ago. (What I don’t have handy is a picture of said pin.)
But that wasn’t scientific, because it treated them like they have a right to an opinion! Where is the interview with a TERF or gender critic or any other right-minded bigot? You just can’t trust these eggheads!
(/s if needed, but you will hear responses like this, if the fascist press covers it at all.)
(I often feel lost reading anything to do with philosophy… I just am not familiar with who theorized what about what when, and they like to reference that stuff all the time. I still find some of it interesting, and I think from the author’s attitude I’m gonna like this one.)
I’ve talked about this YT channel before but there’s an art/drawing channel that is LGBT+friendly called Drawfee. I’ve been watching them for years and they’re a goofy weird bunch and i love them, they’ve been doing trans rights charity streams consistently for years now and for this year they brought back a variety show format that they used to do ages ago when the show was owned by CollegeHumor. Their Variety show used to be really bonkers and off the rails and for this year two of the four hosts were out of pocket because they just had a baby, i was worried that the variety show would not be entertaining but i loved it although as a long time fan i’m biased.
Will be going to my nephew’s wedding next week. The happy couple dated for 3 years as a lesbian couple, until he came out a year or so ago. They had promised us “the gayest wedding ever.” I asked him the other day if it was going to be the “straightest wedding ever” now, and he responded “oh, fuck no!” So, yeah, sounds about right.
I think, given that my passport card is sitting in a drawer unlikely to be used, and that it is not a personal safety issue for me to have an “M” on it but merely an irritating reminder that Trump and Rubio don’t respect nonbinary gender identity or proper procedure… I’m going to wait for a bit and see how things fall out.
There are likely to be a big rush of expedited requests for updates/renewals submitted in the short term and I will leave those for people who need it more.
