Seriously though, gentrification can suck it. It’s uprooting the people who live in a neighborhood, just so upper middle class white people can feel safe there, and so twentysomething computer programmers can live there and feel like they’re slumming it while taking no real risks. Where are the displaced people going to go?

Also there’s the issue of stigmatizing vice. Some people like to do stuff that they don’t want to do around their family. That’s fine. There’s a time and a place for everything. Blurring the lines is not going to help matters though.
