Looks like we have problems with the chocolate chickens too.

Ann Arbor Costco is holding steady for the last two weeks at $8.79 for 18 brown eggs. I keep forgetting to look at the white egg price. Also keep forgetting to check at Meijer. :woman_facepalming:

The farmer’s market was out of eggs entirely this week, and I think the cost was up anyway from the last time I checked in?

And Kroger… up to nearly $10.00 now for a dozen of large that I prefer… as you can see, it’s a dozen large cage free, the store brand.

The Triangle is some kind of egg paradise. Egg prices in Durham are up, but not to an absurd degree, I think due to there being more than a few egg farms just outside of town.

The local co-op, selling local eggs (18 large brown, no limit stated):

Costco, selling 18 large white @ 6.49, limit 3. Didn’t take note of the brand:

No stock issues that I saw during my visits.

Aldi in North Alabama had a reasonable supply of eggs: house brand Gold Hen, white, conventional, $4.97/doz, limit 2

These posts will soon become obsolete. No one will care about the price of eggs anymore, because thanks to the genius management of the American economy, everything will become much more expensive and eggs will no longer be important.

When we had our own flock of 6 laying hens a few years ago I did the math, and not counting the cost of coop materials (around $100 or so at the time) and labor (I work cheap) it came to about $7/dozen. That’s close to what we find at the farmers market.
When they have them.
Just posting as a kind of “setting the level” type thing.

Publix in Key Largo has USDA Grade A large for $5.99/ doz.
that’s down from $7.29 a week ago.

some extraneous factors that could have reduced demand down here would include end of spring break and the goddamn snowbirds going home! leaves some eggs for me (and traffic is far more bearable without tourons everywhere)!

Costco North Alabama: $7.69 for 2 dozen white cage-free, limit 3, so $3.85/doz. Ample supply.
