ETA: gotta say, I’m a professional number-cruncher and “third” sounding smaller / less significant than “quarter” makes sense to me from a marketing point of view.

Maybe in part because third-place isn’t excellent but a quarter of something has no such stigma. Maybe because Americans don’t need to think what a quarter of something is (because coins), but a solid mental picture of a “third” takes a brief thought. And often in advertising: if your target audience has to stop and think, you’re losing them.

ETA2: Dyscalculia is a thing too, and I’d genuinely raise it as a possibility for the screenshot above. But “people with dyscalculia” probably isn’t a big enough segment to be significant to the marketing department at McDs. But if it’s going undetected, that brings us back to “more school funding pls”.

They’re surely talking about baby Cheetahs?

I think they’re confusing 2 months premature with 2 months into pregnancy.

Sounds likely…

That looks viable but only if you launch it into space, and people should be warned that it probably will use its psychic powers to promote peace.

I thought that was plausible, but nope :disappointed::

The kind of ignorance so beloved by conservatives.

Especially when it comes from the mouths of dudes… they love the performativity of confidence, even stewing within their own ignorance.

Now I’m trying to imagine what kind of strapping young guy in his 20s is normally telling his barista the clearly false story of his birth…reminds me of a guy one of my friends dated a while back. He had a sketchy military history and only had one kidney, which was going through kidney failure. None of those things were true.

It’s entirely possible there is no 20 year old tall man spreading falsehoods about his own birth, and his existence is nothing more than a lie on top of the original lie.
