Onebox doesn’t seem to be working for this, so here’s a screengrab:
Gee. Who could have seen that coming… /s
I got 2 of these. But they weren’t from a toll agency that operates in my state; so obviously fake.
yeah, I’ve been seeing those, too.
thing is, the US1 through all of the keys is not a tollway. and the only time we do travel on a tollway, it is on the mainland through miami and we have SunPass in the truck.
and, as you point out, there is no official logo (FDOT, in my case), so i’m like “yeah, come get me, sunnybeaches!”
another one i’ve been getting by phone is a noisy call center where, when someone begins to talk eventually, they warn me that i have failed to appear for jury duty and there is a warrant for my arrest - if i don’t pay a “fine”, the sheriff will be dispatched to my location.
to which i have always replied, “well, Rick [Monroe County Sheriff Ramsey] knows where i live. you go ahead and tell him i’ll be waiting on the front porch if wants to come by. i’ll have his favorite lemonade ready.”
usually gets at least a sputtered response before disconnect. actually had one scam caller say, “fuck you” as he disconnected!
oh, and i always report for jury duty, so there’s that.
I guess I’m lucky - the only scam texts I seem to get are ones that say thingsd like “Did you see what Trump tried to do?” and “Help us flip the House in 2026!” and ask for money.
I got one of those today.
I won’t even click on the link to schedule a mammogram.
Nice trick.
As many there point out, they’re only verifying the hardware, not the person…
Two suspected New IRA members were arrested on Tuesday and charged under the Terrorism Act 2000 after they were found in possession of spreadsheets containing details of staff that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) mistakenly published online.
