The tactical use of these things is interesting; they basically use them as low-tech substitutes for close air support. Where US troops would call in an airstrike, the Taliban call in an SVBIED.

In case anyone thinks that the current catastrophe counters my “competence is not a virtue when allied with fascism” argument, consider that a competent Trump would already be rolling full steam on using the pandemic as an excuse to imprison every non-white person in America. And permanently lock down the possibility of protest. And manufacture a few wars. Etc.
All while still failing to provide adequate medical care to the American underclass. Because health industry profits, and because mass death amongst the peasantry isn’t a bug, it’s a feature.
Trump is probably going to attempt to do much of that as well, but at least he’ll do it in ways that might be resisted.
