To be fair, we should encourage foreign students to study these fields, just as we should send students to study in the humanities in foreign countries. STEM is not the only thing that matters and reading Shakespeare and the Federalist papers is not an overtly western-centric act. It’s of course, Cotton’s racism that is of concern here, as I’m sure Cotton is not a fan of people here getting “useless” humanities degrees if they are even a little bit left of far right.
