That said, given the nature of US society, I’d be surprised if he didn’t also have a large chunk of inherited wealth.

A theatre ticket can cost hundreds of dollars. There might be 1500 seats in the theatre. And the various unions have ensured that those who create share in the take. a typical “Stagehand” might have years of experience controlling the lights, audio, special effects, and props.
