I was tempted to post it to the Tony Hawk thread at BB last week, but I was concerned that it would be misinterpreted.
This is why I jump so hard on posts that favourably compare the US military to US police:
This delusional troop-worship is incredibly fucking dangerous. Everything that US cops do to Black people, US troops do to Afghans and Iraqis.
Every time that people make a big deal about how “nonviolent” their protest is, they’re reinforcing the idea that the cops are justified in beating the hell out of anyone who fights back.
Shit that is accurate, but is not the place of white people to say:
If the uprising ends with anything less than the actual overthrow of the US government, American fascism wins and becomes permanent.
There is no realistic compromise solution here.
