One day.
What happens tomorrow?
I saw a tweet this weekend, asking adults to mention a time when they “needed” to call the police, and consider if the need was actually for police.
I’m a 47 year old white person, and the only times I have “needed” the police, was twice, for car crashes. An agent of the state was needed, for insurance purposes, but 100% that person did not need a gun, or arrest powers, or to have the attitudes they did. They just needed to file paperwork, and in the case of the time I hit a horse running loose through the hills at night, they didn’t even do it properly.
On the other side of the coin, the only time I have ever had a gun pointed at me, it was a long gun, the barrel end was inches from my face, and it was being held by a cop. Why? I was driving down a street in a “bad neighborhood”. I was one block from my house, and that was the only time I felt afraid while living there.
Abolish the police.
