From an Oz perspective, the continued credibility and popularity of old school psychotherapy in the USA is severely weird.
Within the Oz psych community, Freudian psychotherapy is viewed as roughly on a par with leeching or crystal therapy. Archaic, ineffective and comprehensively debunked. It’s taught as part of the history of psych, not as a currently viable method.
