Interesting demonstration thereof:
I’ve read Chuck Yeager’s (ghostwritten) autobiography. Chuck is a classic red white & blue good ol’ boy; his autobiography gives the distinct impression that if his birthplace had been different he would’ve been just as happy flying for the Luftwaffe.
Anyway, there’s a section in the latter part of the book where he’s in Pakistan, training their air force to shoot down Indians. He was stationed there for quite some time, and brought his wife with him. She was of fairly similar political inclinations as Chuck.
And the book describes how she spent her time there organising and administrating a program to promote the use of birth control in Pakistan, introducing the innovation of coloured condoms (allegedly the locals thought that the default colours looked diseased).
