A friend of mine went mentally off when that poem was first posted on FB, asking what was wrong with being a gun and she’d rather be a gun than a kangaroo.
She was married & had twin boys and one singlet boy, and I thought a fairly stable life. I tried talking to her, but nothing came back. And her best friend was a female cop (I think they grew up together), fwiw.

Side trivia: that poem only scans if you pronounce “Australia” with four distinct syllables.
In Australian English, it’s more usually two or three. Straya or Oztraya.
