Partisan propaganda accounts, so BYO grain of salt. They’re likely to be more accurate than the corporate media, though.

Haberman pushing camouflaged Lindbergh apologia:
I appreciate that my Haberman commentary makes me look hyper-paranoid, but…damn she’s good at this. If she wasn’t on Team Evil, she’d make a fantastic psychology professor.
Lindbergh’s achievement was quite likely based in having access to early amphetamines, BTW.
Inequality of power = abuse.
Politics isn’t about philosophy and debate. It’s about power; it always has been. The folks telling you otherwise are running a scam.
There is power in numbers, but only if organised. The wealthy maintain control by subverting factions and dividing the people.
Brief State of the Union:
-
Accelerating fascism is proceeding pretty much as expected. Puerto Rico is devastated, PoC are lying low, ICE are running rampant.
-
Revolution had momentum after Charlottesville, momentum has faded since. The working class are ready to go, but the middle class refuse to move.
-
Lockdown of state authority proceeding uninterrupted. The shutdown will probably accelerate this.
-
Dems continuing to act as if voter suppression and electoral corruption does not exist.
Be ideologically pure or go home?
Philip Roth’s novel “The Plot Against America” is a masterwork of counterfactual history, a what-if story in which Charles Lindbergh, the aviation hero and Nazi sympathizer, is elected President in 1940, leading to the widespread persecution of Jews in the United States
yeah, sounds like apologia to me…
Hence the “camouflaged”, hence the “damn she’s good at this”. I’m familiar with Roth’s novel.
Look at the part she retweeted. Look at what it actually says about Lindbergh. Remember the forum in which she’s posting it.
If I was trying to sneak socialist agitprop onto Fox News, I’d be doing the ideological mirror of what Haberman does. But if I was half as good as she is, BB would be a gigantic nest of activists by now.
There’s a touch of grudging admiration in my Haberman posts. Applied psych and a thorough understanding of social media. It’s deadly.
complete excerpt:
C.M. Your 2004 novel, “The Plot Against America,” seems eerily prescient today. When that novel came out, some people saw it as a commentary on the Bush administration, but there were nowhere near as many parallels then as there seem to be now.
P.R. However prescient “The Plot Against America” might seem to you, there is surely one enormous difference between the political circumstances I invent there for the U.S. in 1940 and the political calamity that dismays us so today. It’s the difference in stature between a President Lindbergh and a President Trump. Charles Lindbergh, in life as in my novel, may have been a genuine racist and an anti-Semite and a white supremacist sympathetic to Fascism, but he was also — because of the extraordinary feat of his solo trans-Atlantic flight at the age of 25 — an authentic American hero 13 years before I have him winning the presidency. Lindbergh, historically, was the courageous young pilot who in 1927, for the first time, flew nonstop across the Atlantic, from Long Island to Paris. He did it in 33.5 hours in a single-seat, single-engine monoplane, thus making him a kind of 20th-century Leif Ericson, an aeronautical Magellan, one of the earliest beacons of the age of aviation. Trump, by comparison, is a massive fraud, the evil sum of his deficiencies, devoid of everything but the hollow ideology of a megalomaniac.
No other sentence in the article mentions Trump.
shame that haberman cut off
“cies, devoid of everything but the hollow ideology of a megalomaniac.”
but that’s probably down to the camera.
