That’s just gross.
There’s certainly room for debate of that Tweet.
I wouldn’t defend the claim in all contexts, but I think it provides an interesting perspective when considering American white supremacy and the continuity between the current situation and business-as-usual. The Black left has been consistently arguing that there is nothing really new about fascist America.
There’s some worthwhile stuff in the thread following the initial claim. E.g.:
I’ve been at gunpoint from sheriffs myself, it’s terrible all around. I have a very low opinion of the FBI and of law enforcement in general; and I have a low opinion about the court system after a misdemeanor ticket turned into threats of incarceration, thousands of dollars in fees, and probation.
What I mean is that you can like the FBI investigating Trump’s finances without liking absolutely anything else about the FBI - you never have to say I agree with an action of an institution and then never criticize any of their actions past or present. Same for the Democrats or any political party, same for journalists and opinion writers, as well as the newspapers and news sites they write for.
You literally can pick and choose what you like and don’t like about people, places, or things and express those thoughts, and deserve no shit for doing so. Not only is there no FBI/Trump dichotomy, there isn’t reason to hold an extreme for or against about anything - though you can be extreme on topics too. That’s the whole point of forming personal opinions.
Whoops, my finger slipped, and I hit the “bomb innocent civilians” button. How clumsy of me.
