No, this wasn’t a conspiracy; just relatively junior officers talking shit. Psychologically/culturally illustrative, though.
The article glosses over that ACORN was already in pretty severe financial trouble before the O’Keefe videos, that there were several financial only controversies around ACORN, and that federal funding had a slim chance of even saving it. To lay that at the feet of Democrats is a ridiculous oversimplification that just fuels the already ridiculous notion that Democrats are also responsible for co-ordinated largely illegal attacks on progressive organizations by republicans and their financiers.
This is also has the same guy that blames Hillary Clinton alone for the Honduras political situation, so he also has a history of misleading political editorials.
