And everyone gets the temptation to say told you so, but it’s never productive - particularly when the goal is to set yourself and your followers above everyone else. Saying half the people that supported Trump in the primaries are deplorable is entirely accurate, but it’s a really stupid and devisive thing to say. Johnson falls into the trap of “don’t follow mainstream news, listen to me” pretty often despite having a lot of really good things to say; and he’s far from alone in that. It also doesn’t help that Twitter is basically built on that style of communication - short snide posts gets attention and builds an audience and context can basically only be gained by posting a screen shot of text.
