The elections in California appear likely to be a vigorous context between CorpDems and RadLeft.

Context: @thewobbleeffect is a previously-undocumented migrant who crossed the border on foot as a child. She has spent the past several days arguing with liberals who are attempting to defend Obama’s “legacy” on immigration.

My Dad watches Antiques Roadshow, and I just caught a bit of it in passing.

An elderly lady had brought in some crystal goblets, and explained that her grandfather had got them off a Russian Countess who was fleeing the Revolution.

The show’s expert explained that they were French, and described the story around their production. A huge amount of high-end 19th century French crystal was exported to Imperial Russia, due to the customs of the Russian aristocracy.

Apparently, the Tsars had developed the habit of always smashing their glassware after use, as a display of wealth. The rest of the Russian aristocracy had also adopted fhis habit.

So, thousands of highly skilled French craftsmen devoted their lives to replacing the glassware of the entirety of the Russian aristocracy. Every day.
