But is there not also (6) “Wholeheartedly bought into all the bullshit about altruistic imperialism” and (7) “Wholeheartedly bought into all the bullshit about evil Muslims”? Particularly in the combat arms?

The Hell of a Way guys report that White Nationalists, while not the majority, are not uncommon. And that even the non-fashy troops still tend to be pretty right wing.
